The adoption of artificial intelligence in the supply chain can enhance the efficiency of processes and the exchange of knowledge, making it appropriate to investigate patent and innovation strategies Therefore, the general objective was to investigate the determinants of the innovation effort of organizations holding patents for the adoption of artificial intelligence in the supply chain To this end, 4,698 INPADOCS (patents and patent families) were collected in the Derwent Clarivate database, covering the period from 2003 to 2023 Regarding the findings, we showed that the prevalent strategy of patent-holding organizations was the development of proprietary technologies (only a holder) Of the top 10 countries with the highest number of patents, 05 are developing economies, with emphasis on China, Mexico, India, Brazil and Singapore, and exercise technological and cooperative dominance The other countries on the list are developed economies, notably the United States, Australia, Canada, France and New Zealand, and exert a strong influence on knowledge flows Regarding the 10 main organizations holding the largest number of patents, we found that they are all multinationals (MNA), and that there is a close concentration of technological, cooperative and knowledge flow on the part of North American and European MNAs We also
