Reumo
O presente trabalho analisa o Programa Mesa Brasil Sesc São Paulo, com foco em sua atuação na região de Bauru - SP, investigando sua contribuição para o combate à fome e ao desperdício de alimentos. O estudo justifica-se pela relevância social do programa, que promove segurança alimentar por meio da redistribuição de alimentos excedentes e da realização de ações educativas voltadas às instituições beneficiadas. A pesquisa, de natureza aplicada e abordagem qualitativa, utiliza estudo de caso, dados secundários e entrevistas com beneficiários, voluntários e gestores. Os principais resultados evidenciam a abrangência das ações, a importância das parcerias locais e os impactos positivos na qualidade de vida das populações atendidas. Observou-se, ainda, o alinhamento das práticas do programa com os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), especialmente o ODS 2 – Fome Zero e Agricultura Sustentável. Conclui-se que o Mesa Brasil Sesc é um modelo eficaz de articulação entre sociedade civil, setor privado e instituições públicas no enfrentamento da insegurança alimentar e promoção da sustentabilidade.
Abstract
The present paper analyzes the Mesa Brasil Sesc São Paulo program, focusing on its activities in the Bauru region - SP, investigating its contribution to combating hunger and food waste. The study is justified by the social relevance of the program, which promotes food security through the redistribution of surplus food and the implementation of educational actions aimed at the benefiting institutions. The research, of an applied nature with a qualitative approach, utilizes case studies, secondary data, and interviews with beneficiaries, volunteers, and managers. The main results highlight the scope of the actions, the importance of local partnerships, and the positive impacts on the quality of life of the populations served. Additionally, the alignment of the program's practices with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 - Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture, was observed. It is concluded that Mesa Brasil Sesc is an effective model for the articulation between civil society, the private sector, and public institutions in addressing food insecurity and promoting sustainability.
